We think of life as an inexhaustible well, because we don't know when we will die. Everything happens only a number of times. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon in your childhood? An afternoon that is so deeply ingrained in your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it. Perhaps 4 or 5 times more. Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet, in our minds, it time seems limitless.

Unfolding at an unhurried, meditative pace in a celebration of tone, timbre, and texture – and thus of sound itself – 12 Pieces for Piano & Strings offers an unusually immersive experience. “My constant inspiration,” Morris explains, “was something as mesmerising as watching a great waterfall or the leaves on a tree in a storm. It’s good we have symphonies and music where there’s a development, but a waterfall doesn’t need an Act 1, 2, 3, then an outcome, nor do the leaves on a tree in a storm. Some people like watching the leaves rustle and the branches move. This record is for them."
