Reliably wonked LA producer P. Morris comes correct with this bumper collection of Aphex-referencing downtempo compositions - properly hazy shit, for fans of Huerco S., J. Albert, and vintage Rephlex gear, of course.

Sure there's a deluge of ambient material right now, particularly after the COVID-19 lockdown, but bear with us on this one. Veteran club producer P. Morris (formerly known as MORRI$) has been pursuing a sideline in low-key (mostly) beatless material since 2009, and now he's raked it all together on this cheekily titled full-length.

Morris is at his best when he's operating with frazzled loops and samples, like on the moody opening track 'calk' and its successor 'mount', that sounds as if it's gonna explode into a full-on symphony at any moment (Eluvium fans - take note). 'polygon (mass ghost mix)' is even more alluring, growing slowly from a low-frequency loop into stretched bleak drones and sparse percussion, while 'grass (maal idea 5)' turns pots 'n pans into abstract looping blurts of rhythm.

From here, the album takes a sharp turn into more beat-heavy material, nodding to AFX on 'dutch operator (ambient edit)' but adding an extra layer of tape saturation.
